Biáng biáng noodles (Simplified Chinese: 𰻝𰻝面; Traditional Chinese: 𰻞𰻞麵; Pinyin: biángbiáng miàn; Wade: biang²biang² mian⁴) are a kind of Chinese noodle originating from Shaanxi of which they are one of the "ten oddities" (Chinese: 陝西十大怪). Particularly long and thick, they are sometimes compared to a belt. The creation of the original 57-stroke character that designates them is attributed to Minister Li Si of the Qin, but historians and linguists doubt this because it is absent from the Kangxi dictionary. It could have been invented specifically by the promoter of the noodles. This character is rarely accessible by the usual methods of computer input for complex characters used in the People's Republic of China.
