A burrito is a culinary preparation originating from Mexico, Mayan civilization, where the use of this name has been attested since at least the late 19th century. A burrito consists of a tortilla, usually wheat flour, rolled into a cylinder shape (which distinguishes it from the taco), filled with various ingredients such as beef, refried beans (frijoles refritos), a can of pinto beans (beige with brown spots before cooking, they turn pink after) or black beans, tomatoes, spices, chili, onion, lettuce, shredded yellow cheese (MexMix blend of Mexican cheese "Cheddar and Gouda"), guacamole, [...] There is no rice in Mexico in the traditional version, it is in the new Western version. The tortilla is not fried, it only serves as a wrapper for its contents. If it were fried, the "burrito" would become a "chimichanga". --- Entry compiled automatically from [Wikidata](https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q390823) and Wikipedia.
