Paprikás ([ˈpɒpɾikaːʃ]) is a Hungarian meat dish widespread across Central Europe, especially on the Carpathian plain.
Paprikás belongs to a family of peasant dishes, along with pörkölt and goulash, which entered bourgeois gastronomy during the 19th century. Many Western European languages, in fact, confusingly refer to all three dishes under the single term "goulash."
It is a stew made from red or white meat, onion, cream, and paprika. Bell pepper or tomato can be added. It is generally served with Hungarian noodles (nokedli, galuska) or dumplings.
